With 200 avant-garde eco lodges, boutique hotel and spa, the new luxury resort at Tyram Lakes will be the first of its kind in the UK.
Working with the Green Factory we were commissioned to produce a concept for the lakeside lodge interior in the form of a show lodge. The goal is to roll out the concept through the rest of the development
Optimal use of lodge space was a key consideration to ensure it did not look or feel in any way like a caravan. The lodges enjoy a wonderful through light, enhanced by their lakeside location. Mindful of solar gain, our design makes clever use of glazing and internal lighting. Inside, window treatments are natural linen, whilst outside bespoke blinds control the sunlight.
Underfoot, tactile recycled Bolon flooring is laid throughout. By varying the direction of the grain, we created thresholds to define specific areas. Walls throughout have panels of cladding to add texture and interest.
Choice of eco lodge interiors for guests
All eco lodges will be created using a standard envelope; however, guests will be able to choose from one of a selection of interior options, with either a classic or contemporary theme.
A luxury eco-camelback shower in the bathroom has all the power of a conventional shower, but uses considerably less water. Feature baths will be fitted in all lodges and 8 exclusive lodges will be fitted out with Roca’s premier Armani line.
Bedrooms all have bespoke built in joinery, including king-sized beds, dressing tables and wardrobes of real wood veneer.
Cookers with a view
There are 4 kitchen styles to choose from – 2 being contemporary and 2 classic. The show lodge was fitted with the contemporary option with sleek lines, gleaming tiles and an island hob. The cooking island itself is positioned to face the lake. Appliances throughout the lodges are of the greenest efficiency, and an MVHR system ensures fresh air circulation.
An extension of the kitchen, the lounge area also has built in joinery and boasts an integral large screen TV with open shelving, books and board games to give a homely feel. Seating is provided by comfortable chairs and a sofa around a generously sized coffee table. Lodges will also have a sofa to accommodate extra guests if required. Artwork on the walls has been commissioned specifically for the lodges. The overall feel is classic and muted, harnessing the calmness of the lake with colours inspired by nature.
Outside, the decks have hot tubs and comfortable seating for guests to relax and enjoy the vistas across the lake.
Building on the show lodge design, aiming for Passiv-Haus standard, the final lodges will be heated by a ground lake source and window sizes will be adjusted to help control solar gain.
Currently the design is work in progress and we look forward to updating you as work continues.
