Built around 1770 out of cob and thatch, the Three Little Pigs, is an English Heritage Grade II Listed cottage located in the heart of the picturesque village of Milton Abbas, Dorset.
Rachel McLane Ltd were commissioned to prepare a style guide in advance of a major refurbishment by the client.
Whilst visiting the cottage it was immediately obvious to us that this beautiful property and internal features speaks for itself, and that any theme we designed must be in empathy with the fabric of the building and be understated enough not to detract from its outstanding character.
The colour pallet we chose was of muted, authentic heritage colours from the Farrow & Ball range. The colours work with the framework of the building and also the soft furnishings we were asked to include in our brief.
All the existing floors were restored, gorgeous fireplaces retained and framed by a feature wall, again using colours from the pallet.
As well as advising on soft furnishings, our style guide included lighting for all rooms and bespoke floor coverings.
With our assistance, the clients have created a cosy cottage feel providing a luxurious retreat for a peaceful escape in beautiful surroundings including Inglenook fireplaces, oak beams and decorated in a classic English country house style.
