Horsley Lodge Toilet Refurbishment

Horsley Lodge was originally built by The Earl of Stainsby in 1863 for his son as a wedding present. Bought by the Salt family in 1986 the property and land has since been transformed into an award winning golf course and premier wedding venue. < Back to Projects

We were asked to produce concepts for several strategic areas within an overall hotel refurbishment program. Our brief was classical and timeless yet with a contemporary twist.

Our priority was the 1980’s style toilet facilities – shunned by prospective brides whilst selecting their future wedding venue.
The space in the Ladies was redesigned, creating a modern, bright “retreat” with Quartz and Oak vanity units, generous mirrors, plush seating, and enough room for brides and their entourage to move around in comfortably.

As far as operating costs and maintenance was concerned, attention was paid to the actual process of applying make up and hand washing and in the location of bespoke fixtures, fittings and consumables.

The Gents was gutted and redesigned with a striking, industrial and contemporary feel, with clean lines and bold colours. During the renovations, an area of original feature stonework was uncovered; and was made into a feature by the builders, stylishly working with a corrugated effect wall and black Quartz surfaces.

Client Testimonial

"I am thoroughly impressed by the way Rachel and her team interpreted our ideas into the most thoroughly professional design, which has transformed our washrooms, and gave our contractors the means to complete on time and in budget. I can't wait for our next project to see what she comes up with"
