Sunbeam Cottage is situated in the same village as the Plough Country Inn, also owned by Qdos Entertainment. As part of a total renovation project we were asked to look at the existing interior and make it relevant to the needs of modern holiday makers, and in particular dog owners.
The property was totally rewired and the overhead lighting was supplemented with floor and table task lighting, similar to that in the Plough where guests may choose to dine.
We opened up the downstairs space into an open kitchen living area and put in a working fire to create a cosy ambience. Dog owners will appreciate the doggy wallpaper and home from home necessities like broadband, wireless, Bluetooth, wide screen tv with Sky and games.
Upstairs the redundant airing cupboard was removed, and tank was relocated to the basement. A new bathroom suite with roll top cast iron bath and walk in shower completed a total transformation of the bathroom
With doggy guests in mind hard floors were laid throughout and all soft furnishings were chosen for their washable properties. Being adjacent to the Plough, the bedrooms followed the same theme of modern country comfort.
Outside we advised on making the most of the yard area, which saw the old outhouse become a modern laundry/drying room, and the creation of a bijoux dining courtyard with comfortable furniture.
